China Accuses U.S. of Global Cyber Espionage and Data Theft
China has once again accused the United States of engaging in cyber espionage, claiming that U.S. intelligence agencies are attempting to undermine adversaries around the world through cyber surveillance. These activities reportedly target global telecommunications and internet users, with countries like China and Germany identified as key targets. These allegations were revealed in a report by China's cybersecurity agency, Volt Typhoon, as per the latest news.
According to the accusations, U.S. intelligence agencies have been conducting cyber operations to spread false and misleading information in various countries, thereby disrupting investigations and research efforts. The report was disclosed by China’s National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center (NCVERC) in collaboration with Volt Typhoon.
The report further claims that U.S.-based internet companies are being exploited, with servers directly accessed to retrieve sensitive data. It also alleges that the U.S., with the assistance of the United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre, has been intercepting and analyzing data transmitted via submarine cables to steal valuable information.
To make the stolen data readable and decipherable, the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) has reportedly initiated two projects called "Upstream" and "PRISM." These projects are said to be aimed at decoding the intercepted data and making it accessible for intelligence purposes.
